What is a Trigger Point?
A trigger point is a hyperirritable spot in the fascia surrounding skeletal muscle. This painful section of muscle can exhibit a twitch response with when stimulation of the trigger point is achieved. This twitch response results in the muscle fibres being “reset”, allowing the muscle to relax and reduce muscle pain.
